Kate Schat of Venison for Dinner enjoys her homemade life in Northern BC, Canada with her 5 kids and husband on their homestead. Her family enjoys growing their own meat, vegetables and the icing on the cake – all their own dairy products. They enjoy homeschooling, hunting and fishing whenever possible.

What has been the most challenging aspect of your business? 

Balancing working from home. I love the casualness of it but the lines often get blurred. Balancing needing to create content and just wanting to create for the sake of my creative soul without needing to write things down!

What famous person would you most like to have dinner with and why?

Ma Ingalls? John Wayne? This is a hard one! I feel like a lot of Ma Ingalls story is romanticized and I want to know about behind the scenes stuff.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Sometimes the best answer is silence. Not everyone needs or deserves your words/opinion. 

Who has inspired you most in your life? 

My Maternal Grandparents. They had a lot of grit to do what they did, living on a rural island with a large young family. They stretched pennies and figured out new ways of doing things to help them get ahead.
